KAZNU STUDENT SWAM ACROSS THE BOSPHORUS STRAIT

A student of the Law Faculty of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, famous athlete and swimmer Eldar Shekerbek entered the TOP-10 in an intercontinental swim across the Bosphorus.
The Intercontinental Bosphorus Strait Swim, one of the most prestigious and large–scale open water swimming competitions in the world, took place in Istanbul.
This year, more than 2,800 athletes from 81 countries competed for the title of the strongest, who had to cover a distance of 6.5 kilometers from the Asian coast to the European coast.
In the Masters 19-24 age category, Eldar Shekerbek took 6th place and entered the top ten swimmers in the world.
The Bosphorus swim is being held for the 37th time under the auspices of the Turkish Olympic Committee. Participants permanently receive the status of cross-continental swimmers.
Eldar Shekerbek is one of the most decorated athletes in Kazakhstan in open water swimming. His assets include: champion of the Republic of Kazakhstan at distances of 2 km, 5 km and 10 km, absolute champion of Asia at 5 km, world champion in the 3× 500 m relay, silver and bronze medalist in the Persian Gulf swim (10 km, UAE), European champion at 10 km (Spain), winner of the Universiade 2023-2024 Master of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan in open water swimming, candidate for Master of Sports in triathlon and Presidential pentathlon.
