🌿 III International Symposium on the Development of a Regional Network for the Study of Plant Biodiversity in Central Asia

From August 26 to 29, 2025, in Almaty, the III International Symposium (PDCR 2025) on “Advanced Research in Plant Diversity Conservation in the World’s Third Pole” was successfully organized and held. The event was co-hosted by the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Institute of Plant Biology and Biotechnology.

This international forum brought together leading scientists, experts, and specialists from Central Asia and several other countries worldwide. The symposium focused on the conservation, study, and regional cooperation in plant biodiversity.

Professor Meruert Sakhenovna Kurmanbayeva, Dean of the Faculty and Doctor of Biological Sciences, played an active role as one of the organizers of this important event. As a member of the international organizing committee, she was instrumental in shaping the scientific program and ensuring the smooth running of plenary and sectional sessions.

Additionally, Professor Meruert Sakhenovna Kurmanbayeva delivered an oral presentation in English on the current status of populations of the rare and endangered plant Rheum wittrockii (Wittrock's rhubarb) and discussed strategies for its conservation and restoration in the Ile Alatau region.

The presentation delivered by Meruert Sakenovna Kurmanbayeva garnered significant interest from international experts and played an important role in enhancing scientific collaboration in the area of regional biodiversity conservation.
