KazNU offers scientific solutions for the development of Almaty

Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev took part in a meeting of the Council for Science and Technology at the Akimat of Almaty and made a report on topical issues of the development of the metropolis.
During the meeting, the key challenges of Almaty and ways to solve them scientifically based on the initiatives outlined in the message of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev were discussed.
At the meeting, Akim of Almaty Darkhan Satybaldy shared his opinion on the important initiatives outlined in the President's message. He stressed the importance of accelerating the development of the city through the introduction of artificial intelligence and innovative technologies in cooperation with the scientific community, improving the environmental situation and improving the quality of life of citizens.
In his speech, KazNU Rector Zhanseit Tuimebayev highlighted the following main problems of the city: air pollution, the threat of mudflows and floods due to melting glaciers, high seismic activity, infrastructural burden due to urbanization and social inequality. He stressed that KazNU offers specific scientific and innovative solutions to overcome these challenges.
Artificial intelligence technologies, which the President emphasized in his address, formed the basis of a number of university projects. Using supercomputers and neural networks, KazNU scientists are developing a geoinformation system for early forecasting of natural disasters typical of Almaty – earthquakes, mudflows and landslides. This system allows you to map dangerous areas and notify the public in advance.
Special attention is also paid to environmental issues. An intelligent monitoring system developed by KazNU monitors the level of harmful gases and methane in real time.
One of the important solutions proposed by the university's scientists was the creation of a 3D cadastral platform for urban infrastructure management. This digital solution allows you to effectively control buildings, roads and utility networks. For example, it can be used to check the consistency of construction projects and build city development plans based on accurate data.
In addition, the university conducts research on the soil microbiome in order to ensure environmental sustainability and create a scientific base for nature protection.
In his report, the rector also noted modern developments that contribute to the sustainable development of Almaty. According to the rector, KazNU's scientific and innovative proposals are aimed at solving specific problems in Almaty. Protection from natural disasters, environmental protection, infrastructure management, healthcare development and the introduction of digital technologies – all this works to improve the quality of life of citizens.
The presented KazNU projects are among the most important initiatives contributing not only to the development of Almaty, but also to the scientific and technological progress of the whole country.
