International Student Forum «Dialogue of Cultures in Kazakhstan and Central Asia»

February 20, 2016, students of department of the Far East, the Faculty of Oriental Studies, Al-farabi Kazakh National Universityheld 16th international student forum "Dialogue of Cultures in Kazakhstan and Central Asia"with the students of Waseda University (Tokyo, Japan)

After the welcoming words of the representatives of the two universities, Atsushi Ogihara (Professor, Waseda University) and Tokkarina Akmaral (Head of the branch of Japanese Studies), students conducted presentations about each university..

In those forum, students also conducted video presentation fromDana Ermenova, Asem Karataeva,who are KazNU students andstudying in Waseda University. They introduces about campus life in Waseda University.

Moreover, Students of Waseda University made presentation ontopical issues for all students who study foreign language- “The Trend and Issues of Foreign Students for Their Employment". After that presentation, students formed 4 groups for discussion. After those discussion, they announced results.

In16th forum, 2 Chinese students of Waseda University also attended. Chinese language teacher Abdurakyn Nurkalyk conducted special lecture "Education of Chinese language in KazNU and issues about job-hunting" for them.

Lecturer of the Far East,Atsushi Saito also conducted presentation about CeremoniesRelated Traditional Kazakh Culture. He is also doctoral student at the University of Waseda. He have obtained research results related that presentation in Kazakhstan over the past 3 years.

They also danced famous Kazakh dance “Kara Zhorga”. That dance enforced connection among different culture and language – Kazakh, Japanese, and Chinese students.

After that forum, they conducted "Home Stay" program. That program could be great opportunity for the communication of both Kazakhstan and Japanese student. Each student was invited to Families of students of KazNU.
