Establishing a partnership with Excellence Strategy

Margulan Ibraimov, Member of the Board and Vice–Rector for Science and Innovation at al-Farabi Kazakh National University, met with a delegation from Excellence Strategy to discuss promising areas of partnership in the field of science and innovation.

Welcoming the delegation on behalf of the leadership, the Vice-Rector noted the active strategic cooperation in the field of science, higher education and cross-cultural interaction with 14 universities and organizations in Germany, including the Institute of Colloids and Surfaces. Max Planck University, Justus-Lisbig University of Giessen. Helmut Schmidt and others. Academic and scientific research work is carried out within the framework of the partnership agreement. On the basis of the Faculty of International Relations of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University with the active assistance of the Al-Farabi Foundation. "Our university is interested in deepening cooperation with Excellence Strategy, which will expand opportunities for the implementation of large interdisciplinary projects and the exchange of experience", - said the Vice–rector.

Karin Jacobs, Vice President of the DFG, professor at the Saarland University, Faculty of Physics and Center for Biophysics, thanked the leadership of KazNU for their interest and spoke about the Excellence Strategy, a program of the federal government and the German states that has been supporting advanced research and science in German universities and higher education institutions since 2019. The purpose of the program is to support research projects and promote the development of cutting-edge scientific fields.

At the end of her speech, Karin Jacobs noted: "We see a huge potential for cooperation with KazNU. Excellence Strategy suggests considering various formats of collaboration aimed at long-term partnership"

During further discussions, the parties discussed strategic areas of cooperation within the framework of the Excellence Strategy: joint research groups, exchange of scientists and students, opportunities for participation of Kazakhstani scientists in scientific projects.
