Dilara Makanov, a 4th-year student of the Hydrology educational program at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, took part in the international scientific expedition Adventure of Science: Women and Glaciers 2025. The expedition took place from August 20 to 31 in the Kyrgyz Republic.
Of the more than 500 applicants from five countries, only the best were selected. Only three students from Kazakhstan participated, including Dilara.

The expedition participants were girls aged 18 to 25 from Central Asian countries. The organizers were a Swiss glaciologist, mountain guides from Tajikistan, a specialist from Kazakhstan and a representative of the Central Asian Institute of Environmental Research (CAIIS).

In the early days, the participants settled in the Ala-Archa National Park at an altitude of 1600-2200 m, where they received training on tent installation, first hikes, as well as lectures on ecology, glaciology, mountaineering and hydrology.

The main camp was located at an altitude of 3,250 m near a weather station near the Golubin glacier. As part of the program, the participants explored the glacial moraine, visited the historical "Eisen hut", reached the tongue of the glacier, and the maximum height reached during the expedition was 3,800 meters above sea level.
