The Rector met with the heads of QS

Chairman of the Management Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev held a meeting with representatives of the international rating organization QS Quacquarelli Symonds.

The delegation included Jason Newman, Chief Commercial Officer of QS, and Sergey Khristolyubov, Regional Director for Customer Partnerships in the EAEU countries and the Global Government of QS.

At the meeting, the current positions of the university in international rankings were discussed and proposals were made to strengthen KazNU's place in the QS World University Rankings.

The Rector noted the importance of modernizing the scientific infrastructure and announced the opening of new modern laboratories at the university. These laboratories provide an opportunity to conduct fundamental and applied research, introduce innovative technologies, and train competitive specialists.

In addition, the rector shared his suggestions for improving the methodology of the QS international rating, emphasizing the importance of expanding the scientific base of the university, strengthening the role of fundamental research and integrating applied developments into the global scientific community.

Sergey Khristolyubov noted that KazNU occupies a special place in the "league" of leading universities in the region and has many developments, advanced and unique practices that can be implemented in other universities around the world.

In turn, Jason Newman stressed that KazNU demonstrates high performance in various areas in the QS ranking, which directly contributes to the growth of the university's recognition.

Prior to this meeting, a solemn ceremony of awarding QS World University Rankings 2026 certificates was held in Almaty. Al-Farabi Kazakh National University took the 166th place and became the only university from Kazakhstan to be included in the top 200 universities in the world.
