Fruitful dialogue with HKUST University

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted a business meeting between Deputy Chairman of the Board, First Vice–Rector Erkin Duisenov and a delegation from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology headed by President Lionel M. Ni.

Before the start of the negotiations, the foreign guests visited the museum, where they got acquainted with the history of the university.

During the bilateral meeting, Yerkin Duissenov spoke about the scientific, innovative and educational activities of KazNU, emphasizing the expansion of the dual degree program with partners from the Top 300 of the QS world ranking. During the negotiations, the parties discussed important issues of cooperation development.

In turn, the president of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Lionel M. Neither told me about his university. The university has over 17,000 students, including undergraduates and postgraduates, and employs about 900 teachers. The approximately 60-hectare campus is located in the scenic area of the Clear Water Bay Peninsula in Hong Kong. The university's structure includes the schools of Engineering, Science, business, management, humanities and social Sciences, as well as the Academy of Interdisciplinary Studies. In 2022, HKUST expanded its operations by opening a campus in Guangzhou.

At the end of the meeting, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST).
