International Forum “Active Longevity Experience and Development Prospects”

                     On September 30, 2025, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted the International Forum “Active Longevity Experience and Development Prospects.” The event was organized by the Institute for Advanced Training and Continuing Education in partnership with the Active Longevity Center of the Employment and Social Programs Department of Almaty city.

                    The forum brought together representatives of government bodies, international organizations, university professors, social sector specialists, as well as researchers in gerontology, demography, and public health. Welcome addresses were delivered by Meirzhan Batyrbekovich Otynshiyev, Chairman of the Almaty City Maslikhat; Askar Abyldauly Aimaganbetov, Director of the Social Assistance Department of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Kazakhstan; Margulan Kasenovich Ibraimov, Member of the University Board and Vice-Rector for Scientific and Innovative Activities; Jiang Wei, Consul General of China in Almaty; and Vlastimil Samek, Head of the UN Information Office in Kazakhstan and representative of the UN Department of Global Communications.

          Participants discussed international practices in supporting older adults, modern technologies in healthcare, innovative social programs, and inclusive educational initiatives. Special attention was given to the activities of Active Longevity Centers in Almaty and the Almaty region, as well as to the implementation of “Silver University” projects at higher education institutions.

          The forum program included an exhibition of decorative and applied arts, creative performances, and master classes. Guests enjoyed the performance of “Saryarka” by the Kurmangazy Orchestra, a folk dance by the “Ainalayin” ensemble, and family couples’ showcases, while participants of the “Silver Age” project presented traditional Kazakh national costumes.

          The forum concluded with a set of recommendations aimed at developing an active longevity ecosystem, emphasizing the integration of social services, expansion of educational opportunities for seniors, introduction of digital solutions, and strengthening of age-inclusive approaches in society.
