A lot of work is being done at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University to create favorable conditions for people with disabilities and create an accessible environment.

Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said at a meeting with the public of Almaty: "In Kazakhstan, no one should be restricted in their rights. It is necessary to create a barrier-free environment. This is very important not only for people with disabilities, but also for the elderly and children", - he said.

In accordance with this, on behalf of the Chairman of the Board – Rector of KazNU, Zhanseit Tuimebayev, 6 ramps were installed in the KazNU campus: in front of the Keremet Student Service Center, on the stairs leading from the main alley to the academic buildings, near the coffee shop and canteen, and in the parking lots.

External tactile tiles have been laid on the territory from Timiryazev St. to the Rector's Office, "Keremet", and academic buildings.

In addition, there is a special information stand and instructions written in Braille at the entrance to KazNU town for visually impaired people.

The faculties were also equipped with 14 tactile tiles. 5 devices for lifting people in wheelchairs and 14 sound indicators were installed above the entrance doors. Parking lots at the university are also equipped with 10 special signs for people with disabilities.

This initiative will be continued in the future and will be aimed at increasing accessibility throughout the university.
