Scientific partnership with Jeonbuk National University

Erkin Duisenov, Deputy Chairman of the Board and First Vice–Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, met with a delegation from Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) headed by Vice President for International Affairs O-Bong Yang.

During the meeting, Erkin Duisenov focused on a number of priority areas of cooperation between the two countries and noted that KazNU has established cooperation with such prestigious universities in Korea as Seoul National University, Kangnam University, Busan University of Foreign Languages, Dongguk, Yonsei, Kookmin, Namseoul, Sangmyung, Hanyang, etc.

Today, the Departments of Oriental and Korean Studies at KazNU are developing programs for the study of the Korean language and culture, and the International Center for Korean Studies is also successfully operating, which coordinates research on the history, culture and politics of Korea, educational language programs and training specialists with in-depth knowledge of the region.

JBNU Vice President O-Bong Yang, in turn, expressed interest in developing a fruitful partnership with KazNU, emphasizing the common goals of the two universities in forming a strong international educational ecosystem.

Following the talks, the parties discussed possible formats of cooperation: exchange of students and teachers, joint research projects, invitations of Korean experts to KazNU, as well as guidance on doctoral students in relevant areas. At the end of the meeting, an agreement was reached on further planning of joint events.
