KazNU students took part in the planting of the Sivers apple tree
As part of the implementation of the Taza Kazakhstan state program, 3rd and 4th year students of the Ecology educational program at al-Farabi Kazakh National University took part in an environmental campaign to restore the population of the Sivers apple tree, the ancestor of all modern apple varieties.
The event was held in the picturesque Kimasar Gorge on the territory of the Ile-Alatau State National Nature Park as part of the Alma-Kika project. The action was organized jointly with the public organization "Gerdyn Dostary" and representatives of forestry.

During the campaign, experts told the students about the importance of the Sievers apple tree for the ecosystem of the region, the peculiarities of its reproduction and methods of preserving rare species. A scientist at the Institute of Zoology, Candidate of Biological Sciences S.M.Romanova, conducted a master class on tree planting, after which the participants planted seedlings of the Sievers apple tree and collected soil samples for further scientific research.

The last action within the framework of the state program "Taza Kazakhstan" is aimed at protecting natural ecosystems, restoring forest resources and developing ecological culture among the population.

Participation in such events helps future environmentalists acquire practical skills, form ecological thinking and realize their personal responsibility for preserving the country's natural heritage.
