Scientific projects of KazNU are presented
Rector of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Andrey Rudskoy and Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Askar Akayev got acquainted with the scientific infrastructure of al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
During the working trip to the educational institution, the guests visited the Farabi Hub Center for Innovative Products and High-tech Projects. The activities of the Center for Sustainable Development in Central Asia, a laboratory of microsatellites, modern applied physics and high technologies, a chemical laboratory, and a Research Center for Medicinal Plants, opened jointly with Hong Kong Polytechnic University, were presented here.

The main goal of the hub is to accelerate the implementation of scientific developments and technological ideas in the real economy. The hub maintains partnerships with universities and research institutes, as well as with investor companies. Joint research is conducted here and new technologies are being developed.

Later, Andrey Rudskoy and Askar Akaev visited the Center for Engineering Competence in Robotics and Robotics. KUKA robots from Germany are on display here. In the future, this scientific center will become a place of training qualified personnel for the industry of Kazakhstan, combining science, education and domestic industry. The honored guests also got acquainted with the work of the International Institute of Digital Technologies and Robotics and the Robotics Center. The workshop, opened jointly with a Chinese company, will allow young students to master digital engineering and industrial robotics. Here, students study all production processes in a digital environment. The interrelationships of each stage of production and work with complex automated systems are also considered.

During a working trip to the university, Andrei Rudsky and Askar Akayev were shown the Al-Farabi 2 nanosatellite developed by university researchers. Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is the first educational institution among Russian universities to develop its own nanosatellite. The honored guests were shown a mock-up of a microsatellite, which is being prepared jointly with the Northwestern Polytechnic University of China. As a result of the joint work, the two universities plan to launch a microsatellite into space in 2026.

Askar Akayev and Andrey Rudskoy also visited the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, where they got acquainted with the results of projects implemented by scientists. The research of scientific groups in the fields of ecology, energy, chemistry and medicine aroused particular interest.

During the working trip, the guests highly appreciated the scientific potential of the university staff and noted that KazNU strengthens its status in the international space of science and innovation.
