17 october, 2025

On October 15, 2025, from 09:00 to 10:50, the Department of Botany and Agroecology, Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted an open class for the course “Plant Introduction.”
The session was led by Akmaral Sadykovna Nurmakhanova, PhD, Associate Professor (Researcher).
Participants: 4th-year students of the 6B05102 – Biology program (Kazakh track). Venue: Auditorium 10.

The topic of the open class was “Temperature-Tolerant Introduced Plant Species.”
The class aimed to explain plant adaptation mechanisms under temperature stress, strengthen students’ ecological and physiological analytical skills, and highlight the importance of temperature as a factor in introduction studies.

During the session, the instructor presented temperature-tolerant groups of introduced species and their ecological adaptation features, supported by scientific examples. Theoretical content was integrated with practical tasks: students performed a comparative assessment of temperature tolerance across different species. The session was interactive, featuring Q&A, brief discussions, and a closing reflection.

In conclusion, participants summarized key concepts and formulated takeaways. The open class was delivered at a high scholarly and methodological level, effectively employing innovative teaching approaches and practice-oriented methods. The department’s colleagues and the faculty administration praised both the content and the students’ active engagement.
