The Faculty of Physics and Technology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted the intellectual tournament “Formula of Intelligence” — an engaging competition for school students based on the well-known “What? Where? When?” format.

The event was organized by the Information Centers for Atomic Energy with the support of the State Corporation “Rosatom” and the Youth Wing of the Nuclear Society of Kazakhstan. The main goal of the tournament was to foster students’ interest in science, engineering thinking, and teamwork skills.

Teams from Almaty schools — Lika Gymnasium, Lyceum No. 134, and Lake View School Almaty — took part in the competition. During the tournament, participants demonstrated broad erudition, ingenuity, and logical reasoning while answering questions across diverse fields — from physics and chemistry to history and art.

At the conclusion of the event, the participants noted that such initiatives not only develop intellectual abilities but also cultivate cooperation skills, mutual respect, and a commitment to self-improvement.

The “Formula of Intelligence” tournament held at the Faculty of Physics and Technology contributes to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular:

  • SDG 4 – Quality Education, through the promotion of scientific knowledge and the development of critical thinking among youth;

  • SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals, through strengthening cooperation between educational and scientific organizations of Kazakhstan and Russia in the field of education and science.
