The autumn fair dedicated to the Republic Day was held in KazNU

The Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted an autumn fair dedicated to the Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the 35th anniversary of the Declaration of State Sovereignty. The event was attended by Chairman of the Board – Rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev, famous statesmen, scientists, professors, teachers, students and guests.

The natural products of the KazNU agrobiostation were presented at the fair, which presented more than 500 kilograms of fresh vegetables and fruits – potatoes, carrots, cabbage, pumpkin, tomatoes, bell peppers, eggplants and apples. As noted by Meruert Kurmanbayeva, Dean of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology of KazNU, these products are grown on 10 hectares of land located near the Kapchagai reservoir. Here, doctoral and undergraduate students conduct scientific experiments using innovative agricultural technologies. "Today we are proud to present the products grown in our fields and in the greenhouses of the agrobiostation. This is the result of the joint work of students, teachers and staff, united by scientific interest and love of work", - emphasized M.Kurmanbayeva.

As part of the program, Aliya Aktymbaeva, Dean of the Faculty of Geography, presented a project to commercialize and expand the activities of the KazNU Eco Hub together with the ECO Network, aimed at developing green initiatives and environmental thinking among students.

Guests and visitors were also able to get acquainted with the book exhibition of the publishing houses "Kokzhiek-Horizon", where new publications in the field of history, culture and science were presented.

The exhibition of handmade products attracted special attention of the guests. The products – bags, carpets, tapestries, plaster figurines, national ornaments and souvenirs – were made by craftsmen and students of the university.

A notable event was the participation of the startup "Zhas Sheber", where students of the Faculty of Pre-university Education presented jewelry and textiles of their own production.

The charity platform of the Komek KazNU Public Foundation worked at the fair. The proceeds from the sale of dishes prepared by the students themselves will be used to support children in orphanages and the elderly in nursing homes.

Aruzhan Kelis, a first-year student of the Faculty of Journalism at KazNU, noted that this is not just a holiday, but a real atmosphere of creativity and national unity. "This event was for us a manifestation of respect for historical dates and an opportunity to unleash the creative potential of KazNU students. It is especially inspiring that all the presented products were created by the hands of our students – each work shows a love for work, art and traditions", - said A.Kelis.

For the guests and visitors of the fair, 15 faculties, university canteens and the Parasat KazNU trade union prepared 1000 kg of pilaf and 500 kg of baursaks. The holiday was accompanied by a concert program with the performance of patriotic songs and intellectual games.

At the same time, sports competitions were held – kazaksha kures, asyk ata, tug of war and togyzkumalak.

Great interest was aroused by the gallery of paintings by the famous artist, member of the Union of Artists of Kazakhstan Bolat Khamzin, as well as the work of the organization "Student Bureau for the Bologna Process" dedicated to Republic Day.
