Educational Excursion to the International Exhibition “Power Expo Almaty 2025”. SDG 7
On October 22, 2025, within the framework of Sustainable Development Goal 7 – «Affordable and Clean Energy», a study and educational excursion for students was organized to the international exhibition Power Expo Almaty 2025 on the topic «Renewable Energy Sources» in the fields of energy, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering. The main purpose of the event was to introduce students to modern energy technologies, expand their practical knowledge, and develop their engineering thinking. In addition, the excursion allowed students to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical experience and prepare for their future professional careers.
Since 2001, the international exhibition Powerexpo Almaty in Kazakhstan has annually showcased a full range of the most modern equipment, technologies, and services for the energy industry. The exhibition has become a traditional platform for exchanging experiences, establishing new professional contacts, and conducting business meetings and negotiations. The event is organized with the support of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Akimat of Almaty city, JSC Samruk-Energy, JSC KEGOC – Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company, the Kazakhstan Electricity Association (KEA), the Association of Energy Auditors of Kazakhstan, and the Union of Energy Engineers.
The excursion involved students of the «Electric Power Engineering» educational program under the guidance of curators Sh.A. Abdieva, A.U. Amrenova, and Zh.B. Igibaev. Students explored modern renewable energy technologies, energy-saving systems, intelligent power grids, photovoltaic and wind power plants. They studied exhibits, observed technical solutions in operation, and enhanced their practical skills relevant to their professional field. The exhibition also enabled students to gain a deeper understanding of energy efficiency, carbon footprint reduction, environmental responsibility, and sustainable development.
During the excursion, students met with alumni of KazNU who had also successfully completed the Electric Power Engineering program and become highly qualified professionals in their field. The alumni shared their professional experience and achievements and provided useful advice on career development and future professional growth. Students had the opportunity not only to gain practical experience but also to establish professional connections, which contributed to the development of engineering thinking, creative problem-solving, and career planning skills.
Throughout the visit, students explored innovative energy projects, learned about modern energy system management, integration of renewable energy sources, optimization of energy consumption, and the application of environmentally friendly technologies. Through interactive stands, students strengthened practical skills, improved their ability to assess and analyze engineering projects, and learned to apply sustainable development, energy efficiency, and environmental protection principles in practice.
The event not only expanded students’ engineering knowledge but also increased their interest in energy efficiency and sustainable development. The excursion introduced students to a professional environment, helped them acquire practical skills required in the labor market, and their active participation ensured the success of the event. Additionally, the excursion fostered teamwork, organization, and the practical application of new ideas, which are essential aspects of professional growth for future engineers.
