The International Scientific and Practical Conference
                On October 7-8, 2025, the International Scientific and Practical Conference “ESG Financial Instruments as a Driver of Sustainable Development and the Green Economy of Kazakhstan” was held at the Higher School of Economics and Business of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
The event was organized as part of the final stage of the scientific project AP19679105, initiated by the Department of Finance and Accounting of HSEB KazNU with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The conference became a significant outcome of three years of faculty work, bringing together the results of scientific research, educational initiatives, and international collaborations in the fields of ESG, digitalization, and sustainable development.
In their welcoming speeches, Dean Zhanna Ermekova and Head of Department Rysty Sartova emphasized that the faculty is becoming a leading academic platform in ESG finance and the digital transformation of the economy. The conference was moderated by PhD in Economics Azhar Nurmagambetova, Project Leader and Research Professor of the Department of Finance and Accounting.
Among the participants were scholars and experts from Kazakhstan, Poland, Indonesia, Belarus, Russia, and the USA. The presentations by Richard Pukala, Pawel Terelyansky, Adam Popek, Aingul Adambekova, Yerbol Sigaev, Gaini Mukhanova, Anar Umurzak, and other faculty partners drew particular attention.
The participants discussed the development of the green bond market, the implementation of ESG audit and digital solutions, the role of Islamic finance (sukuk), and international academic cooperation. On October 8, a youth section was held, organized by the Department of Finance and Accounting. It was moderated by PhD, Associate Professor of the Accounting and Audit program at Narxoz University, Aliya Nurgaliyeva, with technical and organizational support from Karlygash Kurbanova. Students and master’s degree candidates from Kazakhstan, Russia, and other countries presented projects on ESG reporting, green banking, and the application of artificial intelligence in sustainable business.
