At Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, a forum titled “Integration of Science, Business, and Industry” was held in collaboration with the Almaty city administration.
The event was attended by Almaty Mayor Yerbolat Dosaev, Al-Farabi KazNU Rector Jansseit Tuymenbaev, representatives and experts in ecology, environmental protection, and seismic safety, as well as companies introducing innovative technologies into production, scientific associations, and over 200 business representatives and stakeholders.
Before the forum, participants were introduced to Farabi Hub, the university’s center for innovative products and high-tech projects. The hub houses the Kazakhstan-China Remote Sensing Laboratory, a branch of the Northwest Polytechnic University, the RoboMech Robotics and Mechatronics Center, the Technopark Laboratory, the Medicinal Plants Center, ZTE Innovation Center, the Chemistry and Chemical Technology Laboratory, and the Forensic Analysis Laboratory.
During the plenary session, Almaty Mayor Yerbolat Dosaev highlighted key priorities for developing the city’s infrastructure, ecology, and digitalization.
In his speech, Rector Zhanseit Tuimenbayev shared the university’s achievements and future plans: “At the National Forum, the President raised the issue of creating a science city in Kazakhstan. The Government has been instructed to study this initiative thoroughly and prepare the necessary legislation. We intend for the Innovation Technology Park to integrate into a specialized economic zone. Al-Farabi KazNU has significant opportunities to join Almaty’s innovative ecosystem and commercialize scientific developments. This paves the way for establishing a true science city. In the near future, we plan to construct the largest technopark, innovation park, and artificial intelligence center among Kazakhstani universities”.
Within the forum, Al-Farabi KazNU signed cooperation agreements with Astana Motors Manufacturing, Dragon Lakshme Group KZ LLP, and Linyi Jin Luhuan LLP. The parties agreed to collaborate in automotive industry workforce development, innovation projects, and joint initiatives related to water supply and environmental protection.
