At the library of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, the Department of Finance, Customs, and Environmental Law of the Faculty of Law at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, together with representatives of the law clinic, organized a roundtable on “Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women and Girls.”

The event was attended by first- and second-year students of the “Law” program at the host university’s Faculty of History and Law, as well as lecturers from the Department of Law – Doctor of Law, Professor Aigul Bizhanova, and PhD Doctor Dinara Belkozhaeva.

The roundtable was held in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), emphasizing the need to raise awareness, promote understanding, and analyze mechanisms for implementing these goals in Kazakhstan, particularly among youth. The discussion highlighted the importance of accurately understanding the concept of gender, fully explaining the content of the state’s official gender policy, and distinguishing between gender and sexual relations – issues that remain highly relevant. Such meetings aim to ensure gender literacy among the younger generation.

During the session, particular attention was given to equal rights and opportunities for men and women, with reference to the relevant legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and accumulated modern international best practices. The two-hour discussion concluded with students asking questions on the topics under consideration, which were answered in detail by representatives from Al-Farabi KazNU.
