Zhanseit TuImebayev, Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU), took part in the international forum “Biodiversity Conservation in Central Asia: Challenges and Prospects” and delivered a speech.

“Central Asia is a unique region where rare and valuable life forms are concentrated at the intersection of natural belts. Currently, this region faces natural phenomena such as landscape degradation and climate change. For example, together with colleagues from China, we have opened a remote sensing laboratory”,- the rector said.

The forum also featured speeches by Akylbek Kurishbayev, President of the National Academy of Sciences, and Nurlan Kurmalaev, Vice Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan.

The event gathered representatives and experts from international organizations such as UNDP, UNESCO, FAO, as well as leading foreign scientists from Russia, Germany, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, and other countries. Additionally, the forum brought together heads of universities and research institutes, young scientists, and specialists in ecology and environmental protection from Kazakhstan.
