Abai's spiritual teaching is presented in a new perspective

The Abai Scientific Research Institute and the Farabi Library at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University held the VI international scientific conference on the theme "Creative heritage and teachings of Abai Kunanbayuly", dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the great thinker.

The event was attended by Russian and foreign literary critics, Abai scholars, representatives of higher educational institutions and research institutes, doctoral and undergraduates.

Margulan Ibraimov, member of the Board of KazNU, Vice–Rector for Scientific and Innovative Activities, made a welcoming speech, emphasizing the importance of understanding Abai's legacy in the context of modern scientific approaches and its connection with the current spiritual processes of society.

Director of the Abai Research Institute, Professor Zhangara Dadebayev presented a report on the topic "Abai's teaching is our spiritual value, more precious than gold," in which he spoke about the institute's activities, its scientific directions and achievements in recent years. He also noted the importance of studying and introducing Abai's teachings into the education system, focusing in detail on the ongoing projects and publications of the institute.

The international conference was attended by renowned scientists from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan – N.Biray, N.Tagisoy, A.Akhmataliev, B.Karimov, as well as cultural attache of the Consulate General of Iran in Almaty A.Hossein.  The reports of the leading Russian abaiologists – A.Isimakova, R.Turysbek, A.Zhaksylykov, K.Madibai, S.Kulbarak, J.Altaev and others were heard.

The participants exchanged views on Abai's creative personality and spiritual heritage, discussed new approaches to interpreting his works and the impact of his teachings on modern culture.

Within the framework of the event, a book exhibition "Abai – the heritage of mankind" was organized, prepared jointly with the Farabi Library. The exhibition featured new editions of the Abai Research Institute, released on the anniversary date. In addition, the mini-exhibition "Abai in Persian" featured translations of Abai's works into Persian, made by Iranian-Kazakh writer and translator Muhammedkazi Shadham.
