MIT Professor Maja (Maysam) Mitalipova to deliver a lecture on vascular dysregulation in Alzheimer’s disease

On November 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., in room 409 of the Al-Farabi Library, Dr. Maja (Maysam) Mitalipova, Head of the Human Stem Cell Laboratory at the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT, USA), will deliver a lecture titled:
“Blood-Brain Barrier Model to Explore Vascular Dysregulation in Alzheimer's Disease.”

Dr. Mitalipova, originally from the Almaty region of Kazakhstan, is a leading expert in embryology and stem cell research. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in genetics and embryology from the Timiryazev Agricultural Academy (Moscow) and her Ph.D. from the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences.
Known as the “Queen of Stem Cells,” Dr. Mitalipova has contributed to the creation of the first human embryonic stem cell lines approved by the NIH and has developed stem cell models for studying Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and Rett syndrome.

The event is organized by the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics in alignment with UN SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being.
