On October 22, the Department of Biotechnology held a round table titled “Microbiome and Health: From Gut to Brain”, dedicated to discussing the role of the human microbiome in maintaining health and well-being.

The event was organized within the framework of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 3 — “Good Health and Well-being”, aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle and ensuring well-being for all.

The round table was organized by PhD, Ms. M.A. Abdulzhanova and D.H. Shokatayeva, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Biotechnology.

Fourth-year students of the Biotechnology program actively participated in the discussion, showing great interest in the topic of the microbiome and its connection to human health.

During the meeting, participants discussed:

- the impact of the gut microbiota on immunity and emotional health;

- the connection between the microbiome and brain function;

- modern research on probiotics, postbiotics, and diet therapy;

- the importance of nutrition and lifestyle for maintaining microbial balance.

The round table became a platform for scientific dialogue, exchange of ideas, and sharing of research experiences. Participants emphasized that studying the microbiome opens new perspectives in medicine, biotechnology, and disease prevention.

A healthy microbiome means a healthy person!

Prepared by 4th-year Biotechnology students under the supervision of Senior Lecturer M.A. Abdulzhanova.
