«CONSERVATION AND SUSTAINABLE USE OF THE OCEANS, SEAS, AND MARINE RESOURCES»

On November 6, at the Department of Botany and Agroecology, together with first-year students of the “Biology” educational program, group 25-05, an educational and informative event was held on the topic “Oceans, Seas and the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Resources” (SDG No. 14).

The purpose of the event was to expand students’ understanding of the current ecological state of oceans, seas, and marine resources, to raise awareness about the need for their rational and sustainable use, as well as to increase personal and social responsibility for environmental protection.

During the meeting, students presented informative reports on the ecological state of the World Ocean, the impact of plastic and oil waste on marine flora and fauna, and the causes of the decline in fishery and marine bioresources. They also demonstrated video materials related to the topic. In addition, participants discussed the importance of SDG 14 among the UN Sustainable Development Goals and learned about international and national measures aimed at protecting marine ecosystems.

The event addressed such relevant topics as “Oceans – Regulators of the Global Climate,” “Biological Diversity of Marine Resources and Ways to Preserve It,” and “Consequences of Marine Pollution.” Students emphasized the importance of raising ecological awareness and culture, as well as forming a careful attitude toward nature.
