28 march, 2024

The UN Sustainable Development Goals are different. Almost all goals are aimed at the development of humanity and society. One of them is related to food security and nutrition improvement (Goal 2). As part of this goal, the Faculty of History organized the Kumys Party on March 28, 2024 in the House of Students No. 10. This action was conducted and organized by the faculty of History of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the Department of Archaeology, Ethnology and Museology.

Opening this event, in his speech, the Dean of the Faculty of History, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Dosbol Baigunakov noted that the earliest traces of the use of koumiss found correspond to the Botai culture, to the study of which some archaeologists of our faculty contributed. Senior curator Aigerim Yesenamanova noted that such actions are aimed at supporting student youth. On the one hand, it can actually be considered "foodsharing".

Several dozen liters of koumiss and killograms of baursak were distributed among students and guests. Kumis is the national drink of the Kazakh people. The main ingredient of koumiss is mare's milk. Koumiss contains a large amount of nutrients, including vitamins, minerals, fats and live fermented milk bacteria. It has been proven that koumiss increases immunity, strengthens teeth and bones, improves blood circulation, strengthens nerves, improves potency, treats gastritis, tuberculosis, and serves to prevent cancer.
