Balgynbek Imashev graduated in 1994 from the Department of Literary Translation of the Philological Faculty of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, with a master's degree in literary studies. He began his career in 1998 as an editor-stylist of the republican Kazakh radio. In 2000, he worked as a lecturer at the Department of Philology at the Eurasian Humanitarian Institute in Astana, 2001 – a lecturer at the Department of Kazakh and Foreign Literature, L.N.
