A Competence Center for Robotics and Mechatronics has opened at KazNU

At the 2019 "Altyn Sapa" award ceremony, the President of Kazakhstan highlighted that "Industry 4.0 is one of the most relevant and important areas of modernization for domestic industry. Pilot projects for the digitalization of enterprises are being implemented in this direction. As a result, the transition from the current level of technological development to the level of 'smart manufacturing' should be ensured, i.e., production should be fully automated and robotized." In line with this directive, in 2024, KazNU opened the Competence Center for Robotics and Mechatronics. Agreements were signed for the acquisition of robots from the leading German company "KUKA," which were specially delivered to the university last year.
"The center aims to train professionals working in the 'Industry 5.0' system and provide services for automation and digitalization of production. It also offers startups a unique platform for studying, demonstrating, and testing robotics concepts for technological operations," said Zhanseit Tuymebaev, Chairman of the Board and Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
To date, agreements have been signed with industrial companies such as "Astana Motors Manufacturing Kazakhstan" and "Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan." As part of these agreements, employees from production companies will undergo qualification upgrading and gain experience at the center.
