Delegation of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University took part in the international conference ICSEGT 2025 in Baku

The 2nd International Conference on Smart Environment and Green Technologies ( ICSEGT 2025 ), indexed in Scopus, was held in Baku, Azerbaijan on 29–30 May 2025, organized by Odlar Yurdu University (OYU) in partnership with al-Farabi Kazakh National University,. Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science (UTAR), Centre for Advanced and Sustainable Materials Research , Kajang (Malaysia) and other international and national universities and research institutes. The conference was held in a hybrid format - with face-to-face participation and online connection. The event was attended by scientists and researchers from more than 30 countries, including representatives from the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and UTAR.

KazNU acted as an official partner of the conference, thereby confirming its commitment to the goals of sustainable development. The delegation of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology of KazNU consisting of five people - Deputy Dean for Scientific and Innovative Activities and International Relations, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Biophysics, Biomedicine and Neuroscience Gaukhar Datkhabaeva, Deputy Head of the Department of Biodiversity and Bioresources for Scientific and Innovative Activities and International Relations Irina Zharkova, Deputy Head of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics for Educational, Methodological and Educational Work Anna Lovinskaya, PhD student of the Department of Biodiversity and Bioresources Dzhamilya Huseynova, Junior Researcher of the Institute of Biology and Biotechnology Problems Yekaterina Fatkhudinova - presented scientific reports reflecting the latest achievements in the field of ecology, bioindicators of water quality, neuroscience and sustainable development. Much attention at the conference was paid to section E: “Climate change, environmental pollution, wastewater treatment and sustainable solutions”, where topical issues related to the impact of climate change on ecosystems, innovative methods of wastewater treatment and the implementation of sustainable solutions in the field of environmental protection were considered. The section was chaired by Gaukhar Datkhabaeva, who was also a member of the Organizing Committee of the conference.

The international scientific committee of the conference included the dean of the faculty of biology and biotechnology of KazNU , Doctor of Biological Sciences, professor Meruyert Kurmanbayeva , as well as professors Assem Sadvakassova and Alibek Ydyrys . In addition, KazNU scientists presented their reports in a poster session in absentia. In total, more than 20 articles were submitted from KazNU for the conference proceedings, which will be published in the series “Lecture Notes Networks and Systems” by Springer, indexed in the Sсopus database.

The KazNU delegation presented a memorable gift and an address to the Rector of Odlar Yurdu Universiteti (OYU), Professor Akhmed Veliyev, as well as the Vice-Rector of OYU and Chairman of the ICSEGT 2025 Conference, Professor Fakhraddin Mammadov, on behalf of the Dean of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology of KazNU, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Meruyert Kurmanbayeva.

The conference was held at a high level and provided a unique platform for discussing modern environmental challenges and finding innovative solutions that will help preserve the environment for future generations.
