On September 5th, in honor of the Day of the Languages of the People of Kazakhstan, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted the “Language is the Pillar of Unity” essay competition, and today the winners were awarded at the University’s Main Museum.

The competition was held from August 20 to September 3 among university students. Its main goal was to deepen young people’s understanding of the concepts of language and unity through artistic and journalistic language, to promote the status of the Kazakh language, and to develop students’ civic outlook and creative abilities. Students from various faculties participated by submitting essays expressing their thoughts skillfully and eloquently.

At the award ceremony, Bakhytzhan Omarov, Vice-Rector for Sustainable Social Development, delivered a congratulatory speech highlighting the role of the state language in society and the importance of youth creativity. He wished the participants success and emphasized that sincere love and respect for the language is the foundation of national unity.

The winners of the competition were awarded diplomas and letters of appreciation as follows:

First-degree diploma holders:

  • Ali Gasemzade – Faculty of Medicine and Healthcare, Dentistry, 4th year

  • Sabina Serikkizy – Faculty of Philology, Kazakh Philology, 2nd year

Second-degree diploma holders:

  • Ayala Eshmukhambetova – Higher School of Economics and Business, Management, 3rd year

  • Almedina Shaykhat – Faculty of Journalism, Journalism, 3rd year

Third-degree diploma holders:

  • Rabiya Enbayeva – Faculty of History, Library and Information Systems, 2nd year

  • Nargiz Abdullaeva – Higher School of Economics and Business, Accounting and Audit, 2nd year

Recipients of letters of appreciation:

  • Gulnur Dnibekkyzy – Faculty of History, Scientific History, 3rd year

  • Gulyzar Aliyev – Higher School of Economics and Business, Finance, 2nd year

This competition undoubtedly plays a significant role in fostering respect for the state language among youth, strengthening national unity, and enhancing creative abilities. The efforts of all participants were highly appreciated. Through their essays, they convincingly demonstrated the crucial importance of language and unity for the development of the nation.
