Since 1943, the department has become a graduating  department  which trains high  qualified specialists  who  work successfully in various areas.  The Department  graduates work at  schools of  Kazakhstan and neighboring countries, universities  and research organizations, on radio and television, in mass media and occupy  positions in the government.Professor N.T.Sauranbaev, Professor M.B.Balaqaev, Professor R.S.Amir, Professor M.T.Tomanov, Professor M.S.Sergaliev, Professor T.S.Sairambaev, Professor G.N. Smagulova, Professor B.K.Momynova, Professor B. Sagyndykuly, Professor B.Shalabay played an important role in the 75-year  history of the department establishment.  The well-known  turkologists  as  N.A. Baskakov, E.R. Tenishev, V.M .Nasilov, A.N. Nadjip  were delivering lectures  at the department. Professor M. Balakaev was the first head t of the Kazakh language and literature. For about 30 years (1952-1975) he had been the  head of the  Department of the Kazakh language. He wrote many works in the field of phonetics,  alphabet problems, lexicology, lexicography, terminology,  language history, translation, morphology, syntax, stylistics, language culture, methods of teaching the Kazakh language. Several graduates of the department (Amirov R.S., Akhanov K. A., Bolganbaev B., Isaev S.M., Kaidarov A.T., Kuryshzhanov A.K., Mussaev K.M., Sarybaev Sh.Sh., Tomanov M.T., Essenov K., Meiramov G A., Aidarov T. N. Demesinova Kh., Nurmukanov Kh.M., Orazbayeva F.Sh., Khasanov B., Kusainov K.Sh., Sergaliev M.S., Aitbaev O., Omarbekov S., Kaliev B., Saduakasuly Zh., Zhunisbekov A., E. Zhanpeisov, O. Nakysbekov, S. Myrzabekov, B. Sagyndykuli, B. Shalabaev, G. Smagulova, A. Aldasheva, B. K. Momynova, A. Salkynbai, D. A. Alkebaeva, L. S. Duysembekova and others) defended their doctoral dissertations and were awarded  the title of a  professor. About 100 graduates of the department    work as university lecturers and  research organizations employees.

The scientific direction of the department is a comprehensive study of the Kazakh language in structural, cognitive, functional and semantic aspects in the diachronic and synchronous direction. At present, the teaching staff of the department consists of 40 people including: 6 doctors, 20 candidates, 10 masters, 2 senior teachers.
