The Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of Al-Farabi KazNU is one of the leading scientific and educational centers in Kazakhstan, occupying a leading position in the national rating of educational programs in the chemical profile. Currently, the faculty has more than 1,500 students in 21 specialties and three levels of training. All educational programs, accredited by the international agency ASIIN, are annually modernized taking into account the needs of the labor market, which allows us to train highly-demanded specialists for industry and science.
Faculty
The Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of Al-Farabi KazNU is one of the leading scientific and educational centers in Kazakhstan, occupying a leading position in the national rating of educational programs in the chemical profile.
Currently, the faculty has more than 1,500 students in 21 specialties and three levels of training. All educational programs, accredited by the international agency ASIIN, are annually modernized taking into account the needs of the labor market, which allows us to train highly-demanded specialists for industry and science.
The faculty functions according to the model of a scientific, educational and technological multidisciplinary cluster, which has six enlarged departments integrated with three research institutes, and has a material and technical base for conducting scientific research in various fields of chemistry and chemical technology.
First-year students are widely involved in the system of educational and research work under the guidance of experienced teachers and scientists of the faculty, including more than 50 doctors of sciences, 100 candidates of sciences and doctors of PhD. This allows motivated and hardworking students to reveal their potential, acquire deep knowledge, experience and the necessary competencies.

Bachelor's degree programs
The educational program is aimed at training qualified specialists who are able to effectively solve problems in the field of theoretical and applied chemistry that are in demand on the labor market in the following areas: innovative research; analysis and control of chemical products; creation of promising chemical materials, improvement of technologies for obtaining chemicals for the needs of industry and agriculture.
The purpose of the educational program is to train highly qualified specialists in the field of chemical technology of organic substances, capable of solving professional problems on the basis of generally accepted laws and theory of fundamental sections of chemistry, as well as existing and proven technologies for the creation of organic substances and materials.
Qualitative and multilateral training of competitive specialists in the field of pharmaceutical production technology demanded on the labor market of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The educational program is aimed at shaping the personality of a specialist with critical thinking, able to improve professional competences for the development, design and implementation of new and existing drug manufacturing technologies into the pharmaceutical production.
Training specialists on the bases of two partner universities (al-Farabi KazNU, Kazakhstan and the of Nikolaus Copernicus University in Torun, Poland) for the food industry with competencies to control and maintain technological processes of food production, analysis of the chemical composition of food products and raw materials, development of modern methods of processing, canning, storage and packaging of raw materials, semi-finished products and final products.
Qualitative training of specialists for the creation and development of functional materials of a new generation of nanoscale organization of the structure, taking into account the achievements of chemical and physical sciences.
Training specialists for the food industry with competencies to control and maintain technological processes of food production, analysis of the chemical composition of food products and raw materials, development of modern methods of processing, canning, storage and packaging of raw materials, semi-finished products and final products.
Preparation of bachelors in the field of chemical expertise and quality control for the production of chemical products and other related industries, research and production laboratories of analytical, environmental, certification services.
Master's degree educational programs
The goal of the educational program entitled "Chemistry" Preparation of masters with extensive fundamental knowledge in the field of chemistry and pedagogy, using modern educational technologies, as well as capable of management activities in the field of science and education. The program is aimed at the formation of a specialist capable of: ensure the effectiveness of the educational process on the basis of classical and innovative methods of teaching of chemistry; interpret and summarize current knowledge of the latest theories and directions in the field of chemistry and pedagogy; independently carry out scientific research in the field of chemistry and pedagogy; interpret the results of scientific research in the field of chemistry and pedagogy with the subsequent generalization of the results obtained; present the results of research in the master's thesis and scientific publications.
The program is aimed at training scientific and pedagogical personnel with in-depth and fundamental knowledge in the production of products of chemical, metallurgical, agrochemical industries, industry and process management of inorganic substances and materials, as well as the ability to develop and implement modern educational methods.
Preparation of highly qualified specialists in the field of chemical technology for the production of organic substances and materials capable of: - to demonstrate the choice of solutions to the most important modern problems of the synthesis of products of chemical technology of organic substances and materials, - to ensure the teaching of chemical and chemical-technological disciplines at the university, using scientific and technical achievements in the process of processing organic raw materials and the production of modern materials, - independently conduct research and evaluation of research results in comparison with the best international results, owning the basics of scientific analysis and forecasting of chemical processes for the production and processing of organic substances, drugs and materials.
Preparation of masters with extensive fundamental knowledge in the field of chemistry and pedagogy, using modern educational technologies, as well as capable of management activities in the field of science and education.

The program is aimed at the formation of a new generation of professional personnel with in-depth special and fundamental knowledge in the field of petrochemistry and oil refining technologies, capable of developing and implementing new modern technologies for processing hydrocarbon raw materials.
Training of masters with professional competencies for solving theoretical and applied problems in the field of creating energy-intensive materials and improving their technology, forming a professional personality capable of independently carrying out scientific research, applying simulation processes to plan and predict experiments in the field of combustion, detonation and explosion
The aim of the educational program "7M07122 Nanomaterials and nanotechnology in chemistry" is high-quality training of personnel in the field of nanotechnology and nanoengineering, capable of interpreting and generalizing modern scientific knowledge in the field of designing new and improving existing materials and products of various functional purposes based on the nanotechnology processes.
The program is aimed at the formation of a professional personality of qualified personnel capable of: - interpret and summarize modern scientific knowledge in the field of designing new and improving existing products, of various functional purposes, based on the integrated application of nanomaterials, nanotechnology processes and nanotechnological equipment; - analyze the possibility of different methods for the synthesis of nanostructures with predetermined properties; - to put into practice modern ideas of the sciences on the properties of substances and materials when they are transferred to a nanoscale state; - to conduct independently research work on the direction of nanomaterials and nanotechnology.
Educational programs of doctoral studies
Formation of personnel scientific potential of the country in accordance with the objectives and prospects of the development of chemical science and industry. PhD student can carry out the following professional activities: - research; - pedagogical in the field of higher and secondary special education; - management in research and production centers, research institutes, state-owned enterprises and non-state sector of chemical, petroleum, petrochemical, agrochemical, pharmaceutical, food industries.
To train research and scientific-pedagogical personnel in the field of chemical technology of inorganic substances for universities, research organizations and related fields, who are capable to: - systematize and interpret scientific theories and concepts of the latest trends in chemical technology; - organize and manage research work to solve actual problems of chemical technology of inorganic substances; - develop new cost-effective technologies and schemes for the production and processing of inorganic substances and materials with desired properties; - develop and implement educational training courses in chemical technology in higher education organizations; - manage production processes at enterprises for the production and processing of mineral raw materials.
Training of highly qualified and competitive scientists, scientific and pedagogical staff, with productive theoretical and experimental thinking, with organizational skills, starting their own motivated reasoning in the professional field, with original research capable of contributing to solve complex scientific and professional problems in the field of creation of organic substances and materials with a wide range of functional properties.
To train research and scientific-pedagogical personnel (PhDs) in the field of chemical engineering for universities, research organizations and related fields, who are capable to: - systematize the scientific theories and concepts of the latest directions of chemical engineering with the aim of further applying this knowledge in the implementation of the dissertation research; - perform independent planning and conducting scientific research based on the choice of an actual scientific task, as well as the analysis and interpretation of the obtained data; - present the results of their research in scientific discussions and publications; - organize and manage research work to solve actual problems of chemical engineering; - develop new cost-effective technologies and schemes for the production and processing of substances and materials with desired properties; - develop and implement educational training courses in chemical technology in higher education organizations; - manage production services and enterprises in the field of production and processing of materials of the chemical industry.
The purpose of the educational program is to prepare scientific, scientific and pedagogical personnel with leadership qualities, possessing systemic thinking, practical skills and techniques for conducting independent research, capable of conducting fundamental, applied experimental research in the field of petrochemicals and oil refining based on modern concepts using the methodology of scientific approaches and innovative technology The program is aimed at the formation of a professional personality of a specialist capable of: - to interpret the basic principles of an integrated modern approach to the use of oil and petroleum raw materials. - to systematize and interpret the problems and tasks of scientific research, including the selection of methodologies necessary for research for further use in the performance of the thesis. - to implement an integrated approach to independent research based on modern innovative technologies in the field of petrochemistry and petrochemical synthesis. - to assess the validity of the methods of experiments used in scientific research, to carry out a reasoned scientific discussion, using the evidence base obtained as a result of theoretical and experimental training with the involvement of literary and patent sources of well-known researchers in the field of petrochemistry and oil refining.
Preparation of scientific, scientific and pedagogical personnel with a set of personal qualities, fundamental knowledge and system skills, providing creative thinking and high competitiveness in the global labor market, capable of: independently evaluating the results of their activities, owning independent work skills, including in the field of scientific research; to propose and implement new engineering solutions in the field of chemical technology of explosives and pyrotechnic means; to work in a multinational team, including on interdisciplinary, innovative projects, the ability, as the head of a unit, the leader of a group of employees, to formulate team goals, make decisions in risk situations, taking into account the cost of mistakes, conduct training and provide assistance to employees.
Preparation of scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel of modern formation in the field of nanoscience and nanotechnology, adapted to the changing demands of the labor market and modern technologies, capable of: - to argue the basic principles and methods of modern nanoscience and nanotechnology; - to systematize and interpret the scientific theories and concepts of the latest trends in nanotechnology in order to further apply knowledge and skills in the implementation of scientific research; -conduct independent scientific research on the creation of new nanomaterials and the modernization of methods for their production; - to use knowledge of the methodology of related scientific fields and digital technologies that are able to create new knowledge, develop nanoscience and present to the wide scientific community in the context of scientific discussions, including international scientific events.
